<DSA Instruction: Read the following introduction to the puja>
Shani Shanti Puja is performed to please the planet Saturn and to bring prosperity in one’s life. This puja performed on Sahaniswara (or Saturday) is for mental peace and to get rid of health ailments in the body. According to the Vedic astrology, the planet Saturn is considered as an emaciated God with a huge physique, taw eyes and big tooth. He is indolent and airy in temperament. He has the power to convert a beggar to a king or a king to a beggar in seconds, based on their previous karmas and deeds.
It is said that Shani Deva will rule every single person on Earth at least once in their lifetime. Once the period starts, they would undergo series of hardships in their lives. The Shani Shanti Puja and worship of the Saturn god tends to mitigate their sufferings during challenging and difficult times. You are advised to recite the mantra facing the west to minimise any malefic effects of evil and negativity.
The Saturn god is the indicator of sorrow, longevity, old age, death and misery. He is also responsible for restriction, responsibility, leadership, integrity, humility and ambition. He is the planet of the dark – ruling the dark side of humans. He is the giver and the destroyer, and his devotees are blessed with the life they desire along with alleviation of problems and sufferings.
Now let us begin the Shani Shanti Puja. Please focus on the planet Saturn and each mantra you hear.
